Drawn
DRAWN provides an overview of artist Anita Taylor’s drawing practice, and was published to accompany a solo exhibition held at The Customs House in South Shields that included her monumental charcoal drawings that interrogate notions of the body, the self-portrait, and the gaze. The exhibition featured a new series, Witness, as well as a range of ink drawings that explore sequences that feature female protagonists from myths and other narratives. This publication represents 30 years of artistic practice, and includes an essay by Charlotte Mullins and the artist.
In addition to her practice as an artist, Anita Taylor is Executive Dean of Bath School of Art and Design, Professor of Fine Art at Bath Spa University, founding Director of Jerwood Drawing Prize project and Drawing Projects UK. She has exhibited widely nationally and internationally and has drawings in a number of public collections, including the V&A. Dr Charlotte Mullins is an art historian, broadcaster and writer on art, design, architecture and art history.
